Asiza2Asiza Finding out at 35 that she had an identical twin sister half a world away was a pivotal moment in Asiza's life. Since the age of six, Asiza has been drawing the female figure but she never really understood why. Growing up as an only child, she had always longed for a sister and she now realizes that her drawings and paintings was a way of staying connected to her twin.
Proving that it is never too late to pursue your passion, it was 2012 that Asiza decided to start making paintings full time.
bill higginson
A persistent surrealist painter, Bill Higginson can’t stop himself from including a humorous kink or a revelation into his art, filled with unusual images in peculiar settings, enticing smiles or wonder. At eleven years old Higginson was diagnosed with life-threatening liver failure followed by a diagnosis of leukemia. For the next three years he subsisted with the knowledge that it could all end at any moment.
Higginson celebrates how his work evolves in every piece, “My dreams and imagination provide me with imagery. I fight hard every day to build my skills so that eventually these images will be as clear on my canvas as they are in my mind. Every day is a gift and a step forward to my end product.” Higginson, driven by his mind’s eye, looks for every opportunity to see and experience new things in life, developing his skills and striving to make the next artwork better than the last.
Sandra-DiazSandra Diaz is a Colombian visual artist, living and working in Vancouver since 2003.  While distinctly feminine, her work carries a spectrum of qualities that range from beautiful to disturbing, from powerful to delicate, from experimental to masterful, from decorative to compelling.
Though her go-to medium is pen and pencil on her sketchbook, she often experiments with a variety of media and materials in resourceful ways. Formal aspects of her work are influenced by contemporary illustration, art nouveau, realism, and portraiture.  Sandra has been a part of a large number of live painting events, earning 2nd place regionals for Art Battle in 2014. She is a graduate in Visual Arts from the Emily Carr University.
JaceKimJace Junggyu Kim is a Canadian painter currently based in Vancouver. He was born and raised in Korea where he was highly influenced by comic book art until his age of 15. He graduated Emily Carr University of Art and Design with a bachelor’s degree in Media Art (animation).
His career started off as an animator but the digital medium was not suitable enough for him to abandon his passion for traditional painting. Creating the most of the tension between the figurative and the abstract, his painting on canvas arises from the meeting and combination of various artistic materials; oil, acrylic, ink, spray paint and so on. An abstract chaos capable of giving rise to an emotional overlap plays as a background to the purity and refinement of the facial expression depicted with obsessively repetitive brush strokes.
He wishes to continuously grow with his distinctive style and techniques as a contemporary artist.
Sarah-KnoebberSarah Knoebber is an artist motivated by light. She studied glass at Pilchuck international glass school, and was involved with Andrigetti Glassworks thru the '90's. She left glass, and moved into acrylic transfers, layering images & textures, then using translucent backing which are peeled off her light table, she calls them SKIN's.
Often she builds textures into her transfers, from objects she finds on streets, and in Nature. This year she attended the Biannale in Venice and was inspired by the theme Future Worlds.  She is hoping to create a 3D piece for H'Arts that will fit into the notion of Home, and move towards a better future for the homeless.
Olga RybalkoOlga Rybalko was born in the Ukraine in 1989. There has never been a question in her mind that art was going to be the foremost part of her endeavors. Olga completed the Bachelor program at the University of British Columbia with a major in Visual Arts and a minor in Art History.
Throughout university years she combined her extensive studies with plenty of travel and her work reflects the art of many different cultures. Having explored a wide variety of media including clay sculpting, mixed media, oil painting, drawing, watercolor, and mural work, she has found her main areas of interest in painting and photography. Equally passionate about both, Olga uses one medium to strengthen her skill in the other. A champion of the Golden Brush Art competition and a champion in British Columbia’s Art Battle, Olga is no stranger to artistic challenges, rising up to find new and ever higher levels of expression in unique and compelling live art experiences.
