Lookout Society to Deliver Harm Reduction Services in Victoria

On March 13th, Island Health officially announced that Lookout Housing and Health Society will provide integrated Harm Reduction services and supervised consumption services (SCS) in Victoria. Currently undergoing renovations, the Island’s first approved public supervised consumption site will be situated at the Pandora Wellness Centre, which is scheduled to open in Spring 2018. After a final inspection from Health Canada, the 10-booth permanent supervised consumption service will officially open.

Lookout has developed and is currently operating supervised consumption services in Surrey (SafePoint) and the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver (Powell Street Getaway).

From Shayne Williams, Chief Executive Officer of Lookout Housing and Health Society:

“The immediate need for harm reduction services continues to increase as communities grapple with the opioid crisis. By providing stigma-free, low-barrier services in Victoria, Lookout can meet guests ‘where they are at’, and work to develop meaningful connections with the most vulnerable populations.”
