Lookout’s Tenant Support Workers (TSWs) provide a multi-faceted service that includes ongoing support and advocacy on behalf of the tenant with the goal to maximize positive outcomes. Tenants in transitional housing require additional supports before moving towards independent housing. TSWs work with each tenant to develop case plans that address tenant needs that may include: anxiety, trauma, mental health, addictions, and chronic illnesses. TSWs also assist tenants to create a community through activities and programs. TSWs also develop life and employability skills to assist tenants in reaching their long-term goals.

Lookout manages three abstinence-based supportive housing programs: Dovercourt on the North Shore, and MacMillan House and Crawford Manor, both located in Surrey.
Our abstinence-based homes are supportive housing and recovery programs which help tenants set and achieve goals that support being productive and responsible members in their community. Programming begins by identifying key issues and barriers to stability. Programming then continues by supporting residents through group activities, life skill building, education and employment training, and addiction counselling. Our goal is always to create an environment where our residents can develop the tools to avoid relapse, recognize the signs and potential triggers to relapse, be supported through minor relapses and eventually set larger goals of achieving stable, permanent housing.
Housing is in a group setting so residents can develop and reinforce interpersonal relationships and sober living goals with additional supports and boundaries facilitated by our staff.
