"I’m 68 years young, and am originally from Boston, but have been living in Vancouver since 2005 with my family. I’ve been a self-employed real estate investor/developer since 1997. All of my properties were in Boston where I presently still own a 500-seat theatre and performing arts venue that books and promotes a variety of local, national, and international acts including music, dance, comedy, theatre, and shows for kids and families. I haven’t done any business in Vancouver, but am about to embark on a new venture that I’m very excited about! MDABC’s Dr. Remick asked me about joining the board of directors at Lookout. Over the next few weeks I read whatever I could find online about MDABC and Lookout. The more research I did, the more intimidated I became as I learned about the numerous programs and projects under the Lookout umbrella, but if I don’t have a background in, or knowledge of the services they offer, what do I have to offer an organization like this? I live and operate very entrepreneurially and creatively and would much rather think “outside” the box than follow conventional wisdom. I believe the lived experiences I’ve had, combined with my empathic nature, creative ideas, sense of humour, and glowing personality, will enable me to contribute in a number of different areas, to the needs and future of Lookout and MDABC."
