Terry Brock, MSW RSW has been a registered social worker with more than 20 years of experience. Terry has a degree in psychology from the University of Regina (1987), a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Calgary (1992) and his Masters of Social Work from UBC (2000).
Terry has worked in a variety of social work settings including corrections, family therapy, parenting support and domestic violence before moving to a career as a social worker in health care in 2000. Terry has worked in several areas of health care before finding his passion as the ICU social worker at Surrey Memorial Hospital in 2001. He was the social worker in ICU for eight years before undertaking the social work clinical practice leader role for Surrey Memorial Hospital in 2009. During his time as the practice leader, Terry has been an active member of the Homeless Intervention Program (HIP) in Surrey. He also has been seconded by Fraser Health to examine family/social issues and their impact on health care and has been an integral team member in examining length of stay at Surrey Memorial Hospital. He has been active in several patient quality care initiatives in his last 10 years at Fraser Health including a review of the Fraser Health Code Blue Policy, Critical Care Accreditation and co-authoring the Fraser Health educational guide for patient and family-centred care.
